WHEN LIFE GIVES NOTHING BUT SNOW

From the past two weeks, valley has been submerged under snow. Though the sun tries hard to peep through the clouds, but it seems that we saw it ages ago. It could now be called the snow age. Snow here, snow there, snow sky, snow ground, snow house, snow car, snow bird, snow girl, snow boy, snow animal, all around snow. God has been merciful to us in terms of snow.
No matter what snow made us devoid of, it added darkness and emptied us of the necessities. It made us bold and strong enough to bear the trauma of continuous electricity cut outs. It turned a mentor to us to learn how Early Man survived.
Waking up seeing the breath taking view added bliss but being trapped without the necessities took this happiness soon. No phone, no net, no water, no light, no commodities but a big yes to snow. It seems like God wanted to repeat the process of survival of the fittest. Thanks to the inventor of candles otherwise we would have not been able to realize to whom we are talking lately these pathetic nights. Mamma told me the old folk tales of long timed snow of infinite depths (waraeh zyadah aus asaan ,chu kus maen hae) and said they used to open windows to do the house jobs as the door used to get stuck by snow. They used to blow mats on that snow till the snow changed color and till they got satisfied with the cleaning. A dry vegetable (hokh suen) was the need of the hour with fewer commodities to come from outside sources. She told me how once my grandfather had got stuck at Srinagar due to prolonged snow, the great Dul lake had got frozen that time. These days who would have thought the same would happen. The New Year brought 21 century close to 19th. Blackouts changed to whiteouts.

The irony didn’t stop here; next good news came up as pir panjal transmission line broke up. What could have a book learned engineer like me infer from this. When asked by others what it meant I could only say that it will get well soon. No doubt it did but it turned to be ill for a longer duration than what I had said. Thermometers turned useful not only in checking the temperature of the outside Kashmir but also of the long queued patients inside. I guess it turned to be inversely proportional law. Less temperature outside, more temperature inside. What I could say Beenish’s winter fearing law est. 2012 (Hope to get a patent soon).

I think snow should be acclaimed this time for being available in all forms; avalanches, snow drifts, icicles, snow flurry, glaciers, and snow mobiles. It had been a tough job and still tough job to come in clearing all these snowy roads. At the end what I could say is that snow is the much awaited bliss for all, it seems like snowmen come alive when it snows, snow sledge has its arrival when it snows, flakes outside adds bliss to a heart, the whiteness and the uniqueness it has cannot be attained in any other season or in any other region. We are lucky ones to see and feel it. Still I don’t want the snow now and my patience has ended. God please let the Kashmir get well soon of this extended snow and temperature dip. Ameen

MISTAKE MOCKERY

Mistakes are a part of being human. Appreciate your mistakes for what they are. These are the life lessons that can be learned but in a hard way...

Mistke...Mistak....Mistake...Yeah now it’s correct! Ever noticed how many mistakes one does in a single day and how many one have made during his lifetime? Sometimes they can be one in a day or sometimes it may turn out to be century in just a few days. Sometimes they can be funny but at times could be so lethal that it may transform into lifetime remorse. But what I think is that how people agree to this statement “I am glad that I paid so little attention to good advice, had I abided by it I might have been saved from some of my most valuable mistakes”. I never felt my mistake valuable! I don’t even consider them as lessons since I am either held up in these mistakes or in their outcomes! It always happens with the result of getting a sound scolding from the elders or may even turn out to be the others grudges. There are millions of mistakes done by humans in this world since the human evolution but still I think that mistakes are basically of three natures.

Well this classification is not based on any theory or any scientific experimentation. It is all just my perception. Mistakes may be a Fault, a Crime or a silly one. Faults are mistakes of ignorance and they are most of the times spared if the other person doesn’t have lost that much patience. Crime is an extreme case of mistake, not spared anytime. I won’t make a mistake of defining a crime for my profession has ignorance of the word crime. Silly mistakes are yet another case that we often make. Sometimes blowing signs or factorial errors in maths or sometimes reading the question wrongly in a much crucial exam, the others may be misplacing, putting things wrongly or even forgetting. In business the mistakes may turn out to be bankruptcy, not thinking of the survival or the loss of momentum. But in engineering field the mistakes may turn out to be faulty bridges, faulty circuits, faulty structures or the faulty transformers. The engineering mistakes are much more dangerous for it may account for causalities in a much number. In the medical profession the mistake is all around the life of a human being. One single mistake can just take away a precious life. While I remember in my alumina I made a mistake of short circuiting the Thevinin
circuit to which my mentor honoured me of designing an explosive. An invention due mistake!

We never know when the mistakes originated. But I guess these are inborn human instincts and were present from the day humans got created. According to Isaac Asimov “When people thought that earth was flat, they were wrong. When people thought earth was spherical they were wrong. But if you think that thinking that thinking the earth is spherical is just as wrong as thinking the earth is flat, then your view is wronger than both of them put together,”

Mistakes we do make knowingly or unknowingly. To err is human. How much we try to overcome them, more will they try to meddle with us. But the fact is how one knows to live up with myriads of mistakes around and how one knows the way out of that mistake. Hope you don’t make another mistake of your life while reading my article!

WILL COLLEGE LIFE COME BACK ? ALL ABOUT CAMPUS JOYS

Being in college away from the selfish world, with friends surrounding and beautiful talk around. Would this time come to an end? It seems as if someone is telling me a lie or as if it is a fictitious tale. It won’t end up. I won’t be left alone, I will have my friends with me and the days will be the same. But it isn’t the reality. The college life will end up. Life will now change and it will move on with newer experiences and newer people. Graduating is a dream come true but saying goodbye to the years we spent being fearless seems quite an injustice.

IUST has always been a great place, its beauty and its being away from the sorrowful world. It seems like it had been a cage. A cage that had kept us away from the worldly sorrows, a cage whose captivity was better than the freedom. I am writing about it to give it all I’ve got in these last years because this is the last time I get to embrace what I have been given. I can gratefully and genuinely say that I am leaving here on a very good note. I was fortunate enough to fall right into this alumina. Not knowing what to expect, I initially became frustrated with the process, but then I started to comprehend the importance of being here. May that be education, co-curricular activities, and functions or may that be organizing camps, placements and debates. It has its own way.

I am turning nostalgic already though I still have a month. It will leave me with the most beautiful memories. I will miss the suicide point where worries would vanish, I will miss the canteen where we spend more of time, got ill and visited again the very next day, I will miss the library where we could see people studying, I will miss the corridor where we could sit and gossip, I will miss the auditorium where we listened less and laughed more, I will miss the fights we had when we got hurt. I will miss everything. The classes we bunk, the notes we photostat, the bus we miss, the times we cry, the friend’s birthday, the empty pockets, the teachers grudge, the low grade, the topper, the begging for marks, the canteen of unfilled stomach, the shoulder of a friend, the enemy in  campus, the prank and  laugh, the teacher's acting and the picnics to come. It made our day, a day of college graduate.

I can’t believe four years passed. I remember the first day like it was yesterday. Our life there had some best moments, especially when we first had gone for ragging the juniors and then we had the proctor around to check who is ragging. We had an escape luckily from the windows, an escape of fugitives. The next time we had engaged in water fights and accidentally the water splashed to one of our strict teacher of control system, though we had a narrow escape still that incident brought us nightmares. During exams we had another tactics; though we never got the time enough for writing but tallying the objectives at the last moment miraculously had the time. I remember the frightful day when we had exam of the most haunted paper of data structure (midterm) and all I just became blank. I had no other way to stand up the tension and I cried “If you people want us to fail why you take up the exams”.
Luckily we passed the data structure but the way I cried in library made a funniest moment there. We almost constantly made our invigilators to cry up. Teachers made more of complaints than providing our HOD’s the appraisal notes. I still remember when somehow our class got fire (the reason which we have kept hidden like a secret) and we got detained for a month. We got a lucky vacation.

LAZINESS AND ITS COMEDY

Laziness….A disease of which I am a victim… and I guess many people around me are altogether patient of this deadly disease…Has anyone ever thought what actually laziness mean??  I guess many of us are lazy to even think about it. Laziness is nothing more than a habit of resting before you actually get tired….The problem with laziness is that you can’t teach anyone about it. Neither you can make people become lazy nor you can make people to quit being lazy. We simply are inherent of laziness. Sometimes being lazy could expose us. You wake up being so lazy that you skip to brush your teeth, you are so lazy that you skip to wake up early and finally end up staying at home rather than being at your school or college, you are so lazy that you don’t even bother to read instructions before doing your work, you are so lazy that you miss reading sign boards, you are so lazy that you fail to even taste the food before cooking or sometimes you tend to be so lazy that even if a housefly sits on your nose , you don’t even bother to hit it away. Being lazy is funny. Isn’t it? But it has a good side also….It could turn economical. I guess you can easily infer it now…Well enough common sense says “Who will spend money after being lazy”?
It seems to me that laziness is all filled in me…I sometimes require extra effort to make my both eyes to open up in the morning…My fingers are then put to an additional part time job of  compelling them to open.. Have you heard of a lazy person “who thought breathing a hectic job”. He always thought of breathing and finally concluded that breathing was altogether the toughest job in this world. Thank God I don’t feel such. I am quite industrious in this regard.
Idleness is sometimes termed to be a devilish character. As said “An idle brain is a devils workshop”. But don’t you think it is erroneous? Workshop is a work place and being lazy does mean to be a kilometre away from work….What I think is that, it should be “ An idle brain is devils doodling around”.
When I was a kid my elders used to recommend morning walk. For they said for the fitness and curbing laziness “Going on a walk and climbing a hill saves you chill and doctor’s bill”. For today’s modern lazy people (like me) around, it should be “Going in a dream and seeing a hill saves your energy and trips bill”.
Laziness has many symptoms and even recommendations and remedies. You must be thinking that whether you people are lazy or not.
Laziness is when you do not follow what is being told to you.
Laziness is when you do not check out what’s new in new things.
Laziness is when you do not take the time to learn every feature available to you.
Laziness is when you do it the quick and messed up way.
Laziness is when you do start coding before even understanding what the problem really is.
A score of 4 outta 5 means you are a lazy fellow and the score of 5 means yours being a Lazy champion.
Leaving the humour apart I could say laziness is ultimately a bad thing which should be avoided. The research says that laziness is a disease and one must know how to tackle it. It is chronic disease that kicks in and stops us from doing the things that need to be done. It is up to you and your motivations that can change your being lazy. Know importance of every job and be competitive. World is a place where lazy people are not successful. Remember you have to work out and reward yourself for every job you do…Hope I along with you people make a change now and stop being lazy….
Still it's awesome being lazy.

RACE OF LIFE

Sitting in the classroom like a real couch potato trying the words of education to enter your so-called encephalon. It never felt to me when I really started to think…Probably it starts from the very first day of our in this world…And then when we are born, names are provided later but the profession and school is thought of first. The three magical words of “Get Set Go” are then inscribed into our minds. What  Virus would have envisaged as “Life is a race, and you have to compete”. What are we turning then into…Cookers generating steam under pressure. I figure when I saw my classmates I saw all of them heading to go for an unvisualized race. What would  Darwin state as “Struggle for existence”. You are acknowledged on the basis of marks, grades and the number of positions so far achieved. Who would have asked you “Have you ever made any invention”. This is not the type of question one would generally ask. While I remember some of the mothers wailing over their children upon their tragedy of getting 98.99 from 99.99%.While early man survived through food, today’s race survives through grades.

Grades are called the elixir of life. We head to classroom and different tuitions just like beasts of burden, sit on the desks, read the lesson and then cram all. I still can say there would be at least 10% people who still remember the number and index of the page with the particular answer but who could have cared what the question is all about. The same case is of  Chatur. Where are we heading then? Fairyland of Utopia??? While Joy Lobo was one amongst all who put his efforts to acknowledge his creativity. Isn’t it satisfactorily to make ideas work? What will theory and notes do??? Fill your library of unessential written stuff. I do admit that one could not be a real life Ranchordas Chamaddhas Chachad alias Phunsukh Wangdo and be never born up with myriads of scientific ideas. But he still gives us the lesson of striving for excellence and not for the success. Ever noticed the fate on the day of examination. While some turn pale, some may even be so terrified to have to take their parents along (It was my case).Good grades good student otherwise andha. While  Rancho simply say to put your hands to your heart and just say All ijj well. While fear was feared by  Raju, he at the end made it clear that fear doesn’t favour success, it only poisons it. Fear of failure I think is more fearful indeed.

Can’t the education system change, can’t it be student friendly? In our engineering field I never felt that I love machines, for it is the matter that I don’t know machines but I know theory and same would be case of many engineers. Not just engineers but many professional people around. Some people are just trapped in wrong courses, what Farhan had done. At the end he followed his heart. He feared that his father Hitler Qureshi won’t allow but he made his rescue at right time. Know your aim at right time otherwise you would lament latter on. The whole nitty gritty of my this article is that I want some amendments to be made in our education system which is worth attributing the student cause. The impact of 3 idiots has now been felt and the world is awakening. The IIM changed its some of its stiff rules on seeing the initiative in 3 Idiots. But when will Kashmir wake???

IUST : WRITING LAST TIME FOR COLLEGE IS THE TOUGHEST JOB EVER

I have been a student and you a mentor
A friends hand and so much of a helper
I hope it shines as a star to come
A way to bliss when souls wander
I have been a student and you a mentor
For the time I had and years to come.

THANK YOU NOTE:

For the mentors I got I would really thank them all for being a constant guide. It seems that they knew us from the very beginning and supported our pranks and still made us to study. I could say making a doctor, an engineer and a teacher out of a student needs a mentor, a mentor that knows these transformations. Thanks to Google, Wikipedia and the person that invented copy and paste. Our engineering owes you a lot. A thanks to the labs for being a support of our destructions and constant fault .A thanks to all the circuits, math problems, long equations and big weighted books.

Thanks IUST for providing me my best friends, wonderful batch mates, and providing me the best years and more off the epithet of “ER”.  Thanks to my batch mates for all and good luck to them for their future.

ENGINEERING RECIPES

You people might have got shocked about the topic above?
Well enough it is due to my experiences so forth.Whenever we try to do any job, we tend to find out the procedure or the menu. What a chef or a cook will call, a RECIPE !
In engineering jargon we call it a specification or a Procedure. I have greatly been inspired by the NATGEO, DISCOVERY channels and the features of the backyard science programme. They tend to make ENGINEERING a miracle. But here we tend to make engineering a COOKERY SHOW with sizzling recipes. When I took the field, I thought that I would be much able to make such artefacts. Have I now?? What an unusual question.
I know MUCH, but I don’t know WHY, WHAT and I don’t know HOW Confused?? Let me give an example… (You see I am good in giving demos)

Take a wire; fry it on a pan till it becomes golden brown.Add capacitor so that it doesn’t give out the extra current. Let it simmer. Take out some transistor ketchup and an opamp marmalade to add to the taste. For the soup, have resistors (Of good quality otherwise the soup may burn out) and boil them in water using a power source. Add some voltage to taste. Put the gravy and the soup in a plate and garnish them with some currents and voltages.
That makes the Engineering recipe.
Righty called the “BTECH CURRY” (Shockingly).

You people must have liked the procedure of the recipe
You too can try it.
It is at least interesting. (Though I can’t guarantee the taste and health concerning facts about it).Another beautiful recipe I learned is that UJT AND BJT KOFTAS.If you get confused over their origin and identity, then the simple thing to learn is that UJT KOFTA starts with a letter “U” and BJT KOFTA with a beautiful letter “B”.Don't worry if you still get confused ( like most students do) when they are put in front of you. You can make out the difference by counting 1 to 10…Surprisingly the 10th one will be the UJT KOFTA…(Numerical Luck u can call it)

Well I do remember that once we were in kitchen (I mean the LAB you see), we got a new capacitor curry(I mean the capacitor)!! We thought it might be a resistor curry(I mean the resistors)… (God I cant understand why doesn’t the recipe books(I mean the engineering books) gives the picture of the ingredients(I mean the circuits) clearly)...We got a miraculous result after all…You can call, we are made to put adventures in our field so well…Always puzzled, surprised, confused, anxious and then ultimately SHOCKED at the end…What an experience!!!

We are in a world where Gadgets and machines play a great and a wondrous role. A robot, a digital watch, a camcorder, an IPOD all are engineering feasts…An ANTENNA of course. It is a device for reception and transmission of WHAT and WHERE?? Oh God, I lost the WHAT and WHERE parameters …It is because Antenna is a well groomed recipe…If it is tasted raw, it tends to put a persons stomach to worry…We are just made to eat these uncooked meals... why not then to COOK it??

What I mean:

Well this article isn’t only intended to make a ten minute laugh or a bit of a recreation. I am focusing on the need of putting practicality in use in our field which needs the most. No doubt our varsity has made much effort to put these things in use and in our work. But has our Government?? Has anyone focussed the need that students must really be aware of these High Tech gadgets and machines? What you can call COOKING in the above terms…I mean “Why not focus on these issues of making a digital and a new world be seen now, which is just an illusion or just a recipe for us ”...Make us aware of how these machines and gadgets really work and what they are actually, otherwise God forbid we might ultimately cook these circuits or machines......

OPRAH WINFREY

"When the darkest night surround you , only then you see the moon and the stars"

As far as modern day icons go, you don’t get much more inspirational than Oprah Winfrey. She is a Television host, philanthropist, actress, producer and, according to some, the most influential woman in the world. I in a way adore her struggle and adore her personality.
Oprah Winfrey has had many ’firsts’ to her name. These include being the first woman in history to own and produce her own talk show and also the first African-American woman in American history to become a billionaire.
By her own remarkable life story to date, Oprah has shown others that they too have the potential to turnaround their lives no matter what their circumstances.

"I don’t think of myself as a poor deprived ghetto girl who made good. I think of myself as somebody who from an early age knew I was responsible for myself, and I had to make good"

Born on 29 January 1954 in Mississippi to a teenage single mother, Oprah was to be brought up in rural poverty on her grandmother’s farm while her mother looked for work in the north. Despite her surroundings, Oprah received loving support from her grandmother who taught her to read from an early age.All this changed when she was 6 years old and sent to live with her mother. While her mother was out working Oprah was sexually abused by male relatives and another visitor from the ages of 9 to 13. She became pregnant at 14 but unfortunately her son died in infancy.
Oprah used the tragedy and the hardship she endured as a young girl to realize that she had a second chance at life, that she could turn her wounds into wisdom.
Shortly after this traumatic period in her life she went to live with her father in Tennessee. Her father was a disciplinarian and it was here that she got back on track, focused on what she was good at and did well at school.

"The biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams"
And Oprah Winfrey knew all about dreams.
She landed a job in radio when she was still at High School and co-anchored on a local evening news show at the age of 19. From here she eventually landed a job on a daytime talk show, went on to launch her own production company and became internationally syndicated. The rest as they say is history.
I was raised to believe that excellence is the best deterrent to racism or sexism. And that’s how I operate my life.
There is no doubt that life was not a bed of roses for Oprah and she worked hard to create the life she wanted. She was ambitious and determined and even though there were failures along the way, Oprah just got back up and carried on.
At the time Oprah was making her mark in the media world, there were no African American women who hosted their own television shows and so Winfrey was to pave the way for others.
I like this quote because it is applicable to many of the challenges we face in life and the best deterrent to those who put you down is to be the best person you can be. Your excellence and success is the best answer to other people’s criticism and bigotry.

I have a lot of things to prove to myself. One is that I can live my life fearlessly.

Oprah created a more confessional type of chat show, people entrusted her with their deepest problems and her style and approach was to revolutionize other talk shows in this genre.
At first Oprah focused on women’s issues but soon went on to cover a diverse range of topics such as equal rights, gender issues and racism. Not one to be afraid of change and trying out on new things, Oprah’s show was later reinvented with a focus on self-improvement, spirituality and literature. Oprah is also credited with inspiring pro-social behaviour because the topics her show covered were uplifting and inspirational which can encourage viewers to act more altruistically.
Oprah is a good example of someone who continues to live her life fearlessly.
“Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you”

MY BELOVED KASHMIR

I have no political basis or acknowledgment as such but I can’t stay as a meek spectator seeing the so called Kashmir turning worse than a hell.18 years of military occupancy does mean something. Thousands killed, Infact brutally murdered, thousands disappeared, tortured, injured and then what else remains to be done. A bullet in the chest is better than surrender to these humiliations. The thing is Indian government is trying to silence our woes and cries! Where is the government that the people have voted??? Now people vote next time with an issues of food, water and commodities and don’t think of the shaheeds who lost their lives! We should salute them how they mustered their courage to come out of the streets and cry for the freedom. Not surprisingly Kashmir is all a playground now, a theatre of bunkers, barricades, check points and army camps and there are just bullets around. They called the British Empire as tyrannical but is it tyranny of deploying one lakh soldiers in the whole India or is it tyranny to deploy million heavily armed soldiers in just J & K state? Their mathematics isn’t that weak even. I don’t infact really know what Freedom means. But just I want to see a Kashmir where there are no such unprovoked killings, where people are not brutally murdered as such. I was just a child then when the Kashmir came up with the upsurge of militancy. Didn’t knew about the politics underneath but some of the words got inscribed in my naïve brain

Jago Jago Subah hui
Khunay shaheeda rang laya
Fatha ka parcha lehraya
 Jago Jago Subah hui

20 years have passed since but we still cry for freedom. Where is freedom?
As I child I once asked my father “Papa what is Freedom?” and he just replied “daughter, all along the history of Kashmir, people here have faced all kinds of turmoil, may that be fake encounters, harassments, bomb explosions, bullet firings, or even the custodial killings. Freedom is all about the end of these miseries”. I just could say “papa is this freedom? Then I truly admire it”. I just remember what Martin Luther king said about the freedom when he worked on black Africans and white American racial discrimination “Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor, it must be demanded by the oppressed”. Can’t we demand the freedom now? Islam too favours the need of revoking if the oppression goes beyond the limit. Can’t we cry for our rights? There is the need of turning Kashmir to independence, turning saffron flag to a green one of liberty, need of a new day of being in free unchained Kashmir. Ya ALLAH let Kashmir be given the dominion of well governed independence. Kashmir just asks for AZAADI now.

Hope it would be tranquil; hope it will turn to be bliss now
It is Kashmir as such, how come I come up with a word hope with it
There are gruesome killings, petty politics and there are shattered hopes
It is Kashmir as such, how can I come up with a word development with it
Tears fill the hearts, fear resides deep in self and then there is an end of liberty
It is Kashmir as such, how can I come up with a word democracy with it
Mothers see the dead bodies of their sons, sisters see their brothers don’t return and wives are widowed now
This is Kashmir as such, how can I expect no more killings now

HOW I LOVED MYSELF AGAIN

Do you dream of the day when you’re able to look in the mirror and actually like what you see? What if you took it one step further and found that you loved the image looking back at you? Not the fake kind of love where you try to convince yourself that you really are a decent person, but the love that is true and genuine and felt from the bottom of your heart. Is that even possible?

Most of us have become so efficient at loathing ourselves, that liking or even loving who we are seems like a distant dream – a mirage that exists only to taunt us and drive us crazy. But, just as surely as Cinderella met her Prince Charming, you too can look at your reflection and be just enamoured with what you see. How?

Follow these simple guidelines and you’ll fall more in love with yourself with each and every passing day:

Accept that you’re exactly where you’re meant to be at this moment in time :
That means that all of your past “mistakes” and “failures” shouldn’t be looked at as negative, or bad. In fact, they were necessary to put you in this particular spot in your life, which is exactly where you need to be at this moment in time to continue to advance forward.
This means that you can quit beating yourself up for things that you did or didn’t do yesterday, last year or decades ago. Take whatever happened, learn from it and then let it go.
The exciting part of this notion (beyond dropping all the baggage that has likely been weighing you down) is that great things certainly lie in your future. You are getting yourself set up for wonderful things to come to pass; a life of opportunity awaits you.

Know that you don’t owe anyone else an explanation for who you are :
Do you ever talk to someone and feel you need to justify your thoughts or feelings? Like you have to defend your reasons or actions?
Here’s the thing: You don’t owe anyone an explanation for how you think, what you believe or who you are. The only one you have to answer to is yourself (and a higher spirit, if that’s your belief).
To conquer this one, you need to have the attitude of a mother whose only explanation to her child is “because I said so.” You feel the way you do period. End of discussion.

Appreciate your own individual strengths :

We all have weaknesses, or things we’d rather change about ourselves. However, the problem comes in when you spend more time thinking about the areas where you need to improve than you do about the areas that you’ve already mastered, or excelled in.
You can’t love yourself if you’re constantly nitpicking your flaws. So, it’s time to let go of the abusiveness that you’re giving to your inner being and become more of a coach and cheerleader that promotes and honors the wonderful traits and abilities you possess.
Sit down and make a list of all the things you like about yourself. (Now is not the time to be modest.) Be honest about the great qualities that you feel you have and be sure to include the ones that others have complimented you on. When you’re feeling down about who you are, pull out the list and remind yourself how fantastic you truly are.

Appreciate other people’s strengths for what they are :
All too often we don’t just appreciate the good things we see in other people. We idolize them and put them on a pedestal far above where we are. We compare ourselves to them and wish we were more like them, making ourselves feel subpar.
That’s why you need to appreciate other people for the strengths that they possess in a way that doesn’t involve you at all. They aren’t there for comparison with who we are. They’re human just like us, which means that they have faults as well. Just because you don’t currently see them doesn’t mean that they don’t exist.
When you notice that you’re admiration for someone else is making you feel bad about yourself, you need to put it in perspective. Remind yourself that they are good at some things and you are good at others. In fact, truth be told, they probably look up to you for certain things just as much as you look up to them.

Pull the emotion out :
Incidents, actions and situations have no meaning in and of themselves. The meaning is given to them by us, oftentimes created by correlations we make with past events or understandings.
So, for example, having a tooth pulled may be a scary thing for one person who may have had a bad dental experience in the past, whereas another person may look forward to it because last time they had a tooth pulled they experienced great relief. It’s the same event with two very different feelings and emotions.
When you’re feeling down about yourself then, for something that you did or didn’t do, pull the emotion out of it. Just look at it as a series of factual events that occurred. Nothing more and nothing less. The more negative energy you give it, the less room you have for the positive energy you desire.

Practice makes perfect :
You can’t just wake up one day and say you’re going to love yourself, have it happen and never think about it again. It’s something that needs constant attention and nurturance. You’re essentially going to have to foster the relationship you have with yourself on a regular basis, much like you’d foster the relationship you share with anyone else who is important to you.
Work on giving yourself self-love daily. Set up rituals to remind yourself that you are the first priority in your own life. After all, if you don’t have you, everything else becomes irrelevant, right?
Make a list of things you want to say to yourself every morning. Tell yourself that you’re strong, beautiful, thin and smart. Let yourself know that you can survive anything and that you choose to be victor over being a victim.
Some call it a self-fulfilling prophecy, that what you believe will come to pass. There’s probably a lot of truth to that as your mind only recognizes that which you put importance on.

For example, how many times have you visited a place you’d never heard of only to hear the name several times after? Is it that the name was never mentioned before or just that you weren’t open to hear it? The latter makes a lot more sense. So, open your mind to self-love and draw it in like the air you breathe.
LOVING YOURSELF IS NOT AN EASY TASK especially if you’ve spent decades telling yourself that you’re stupid, worthless or not deserving of great things. But, it’s also not impossible. You can look in the mirror and love what you see as long as you’re willing to try.

Commit to learning to love yourself beginning today. This is one relationship that you’ll be glad you took the time to nurture, because it’s going to be with you forever.

THE TRIUMPH OF SIMPLE LIVING

I was on Facebook the other day when I noticed an exchange about life between two people I know very less of. One person had made a comment (and I paraphrase) “In life people are psychotherapists that can’t be bothered to finish their training”

“There is no how it is, only how it is for you” the other replied.

This exchange had me thinking for the millionth time, a psychotherapist or psychos. What I mean is that in life we meet with so many psychos and we meet with so many lies eventually. The first lie we believe is that life is a fairy tale. All happens with happiness, nothing wrong happens, friends stay, you get what you want without much effort, you marry the one who cares for you, you dream of prince charming building a castle for you, you get a job and earn so much that you have a pool of money outside. We dream lies and then finally we make a web of these dreams where spiders wind more webs daily and trap us their forever when we fail to accomplish them all.

It seems funny to quote my own quote, but it is really at the core of what I do and also what I believe. I have no doubt whatsoever that people come and go, happiness comes and goes for nothing stays forever. Even during this time what stays is our family, faith and our ultimate motive in life. We need to change our fairy tale life. We dream without a motive, trust without much thought, wish without doing an effort, pray without the intention of not doing another sin, and lie now and then.

Some of the great minds found the greatest wisdom of life. Their quotes changed my way of life. Maybe it might change your outlook of life as well. Here are some of the best quotes I found so deep in meaning and so right to be used in this pathetic world:

1.       “Those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything” -George Bernard Shaw
Well this aint about brain transfer (just kidding). The greatest thing one can do for himself is rectifying his sins. Just like we engineers rectify ac to dc in the same way a person can rectify his wrongs. To err is human but what is better than this is: not repeating them and making the wrongs into corrects at the correct time.

2. “Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back. Concerning all acts of initiative, there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, and then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favour all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.” – William H Murray
You know what inspires more about a person, his looks? No. It is his boldness, attitude, intelligence and his way of thinking. You can say your brain and attitude can bring you more suitors than your beauty (am not 100% sure but 80 % people do think such).
When we plan, the whole world conspires to make it true as said by Mr. Alchemist. We dream but we don’t dream true. What I mean is that if you dream of something, think of making it true. Work for it, for the benefit of you and for the benefit of others. Don’t snatch others right. In this age we just want to move forward by snatching others morsel. We plan others downfall for our own benefit. We favour nepotism, go for corrupt means of gaining favour and job. But is this a way of doing it?

3. “To avoid criticism, do nothing, say nothing, be nothing” – Elbert Hubbard
This quote wants us to be a void set in this age (just kidding). As they say we can’t please everyone. We often get critised, critised of speaking the truth, criticized for speaking for our right. Criticism is essential but not every time. The world doesn’t need that, speak your mind and live your life as you want to. If people criticize let them, but move on with your dream and life. There are many who have got their success after they have been criticized for being nothing. Who could have thought Brian Actor (co founder of whatsapp) will get so much after being rejected by twitter and facebook in the first instance.

4. “A small group of thoughtful people could change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has” – Margaret Mead
Another quote and one that inspires me is to believe that we really do have more power than we could ever imagine. Don’t ever think you are powerless. Infact people have more power than superman of batman (just kidding) but one does has power to overcome hurdles one faces in life. Allah doesn’t burden a soul more than he can carry.

5. “You must be the change you wish to see in the world” – Gandhi

I almost left this out because it’s cherished me to death and it possibly the most well-known quote in the universe. But there’s a good reason for that, and that’s because it’s stunningly brilliant.
You cannot ever change anybody else; you can only change yourself and hope you inspire other people to do the same.

6. “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up” – Thomas Edison.
We accept failures more often. It is like we have a magnet to attract tensions and issues. It’s like if we don’t have any tension in life that too becomes our biggest tension of life. We see all the negatives and see more failures to come; we get depressed and see no hope. What is more hopeless than not trying? Allah is the best planner, If He plans struggles for us, He would plan its way out.

7. “You will not be punished for your anger; you will be punished by your anger” - Buddha
Is there any need to explain this? Probably not because we all know how weird we feel when we’re angry so let your anger go and don’t give it heed.

8. “Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans” – John Lennon
Doesn’t that sum up many people you know, maybe even yourself? Are you so busy planning what’s next, that you forget that now is already here? Planning is crucial of course, but so is enjoying the only time you ever have, now.

9. “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent” - Eleanor Roosevelt
Every feeling you have is generated internally as a reaction (usually) to external events. It is your interpretation of events that gives them meaning, not the events themselves. How liberating is that? To know that people can only hurt you if you allow them to.
Of course, you have to believe it first.

10. “A ship is safe in harbour, but that is not what a ship was built for” – William H Shedd
Another quote that may not be attributed to the right person, but who cares who said it, it’s still brilliant.
You can hide yourself away from the world, you can avoid doing anything risky or out there, but that’s not what you were put on this earth to do. You were put here to be the best person you can be and that means taking risks by hauling anchor and sailing out into the uncharted open sea from time to time.

11. “Watch your thoughts, they become words. Watch your words, they become actions. Watch your actions, they become habits. Watch your habits, they become your character. Watch your character, it becomes your destiny” – Author unknown although sometimes attributed to Frank Outlaw.
I don’t think this needs any explanation other than you become what you think about, so be careful what you think about.

12. “What the thinker thinks, the prover proves” - Robert Anton Wilson
Taken from the absolutely brilliant book "Prometheus Rising”, Wilson sums up in a sentence something we all do, which is to look for evidence to support the beliefs we already hold rather than questioning them.

13. “People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily” - Zig Ziglar
Zig nails it with this one. Self development is like going to the gym. Nobody gets fit by going to the gym once; it’s a daily or weekly ritual. Self development is the same, you have to work on it, and if that is, you really want to master it.

14. “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” -Wayne Gretzky
Guess what? If you don’t launch that eBook you have been thinking of, you have failed. If you don’t start that new business you have dreamed of, you have failed. And if you don’t ask for that date for fear of rejection, you have failed.
Failure isn't missing its never trying.

15. “Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right.” – Henry Ford
Belief in yourself is so important and often the determiner in how successful you are in life. Believe in yourself because you’re absolutely brilliant.

In the end let me quote the most beautiful quote and let me leave it to be analysed by you. Just like an assignment (just kidding)

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

THE ODDS OF A KASHMIRI

Why is it funny to live in Kashmir. Every morning I wake up, I think of my life and how I am still lazy and still a winner in all ...
