MY BELOVED KASHMIR

I have no political basis or acknowledgment as such but I can’t stay as a meek spectator seeing the so called Kashmir turning worse than a hell.18 years of military occupancy does mean something. Thousands killed, Infact brutally murdered, thousands disappeared, tortured, injured and then what else remains to be done. A bullet in the chest is better than surrender to these humiliations. The thing is Indian government is trying to silence our woes and cries! Where is the government that the people have voted??? Now people vote next time with an issues of food, water and commodities and don’t think of the shaheeds who lost their lives! We should salute them how they mustered their courage to come out of the streets and cry for the freedom. Not surprisingly Kashmir is all a playground now, a theatre of bunkers, barricades, check points and army camps and there are just bullets around. They called the British Empire as tyrannical but is it tyranny of deploying one lakh soldiers in the whole India or is it tyranny to deploy million heavily armed soldiers in just J & K state? Their mathematics isn’t that weak even. I don’t infact really know what Freedom means. But just I want to see a Kashmir where there are no such unprovoked killings, where people are not brutally murdered as such. I was just a child then when the Kashmir came up with the upsurge of militancy. Didn’t knew about the politics underneath but some of the words got inscribed in my naïve brain

Jago Jago Subah hui
Khunay shaheeda rang laya
Fatha ka parcha lehraya
 Jago Jago Subah hui

20 years have passed since but we still cry for freedom. Where is freedom?
As I child I once asked my father “Papa what is Freedom?” and he just replied “daughter, all along the history of Kashmir, people here have faced all kinds of turmoil, may that be fake encounters, harassments, bomb explosions, bullet firings, or even the custodial killings. Freedom is all about the end of these miseries”. I just could say “papa is this freedom? Then I truly admire it”. I just remember what Martin Luther king said about the freedom when he worked on black Africans and white American racial discrimination “Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor, it must be demanded by the oppressed”. Can’t we demand the freedom now? Islam too favours the need of revoking if the oppression goes beyond the limit. Can’t we cry for our rights? There is the need of turning Kashmir to independence, turning saffron flag to a green one of liberty, need of a new day of being in free unchained Kashmir. Ya ALLAH let Kashmir be given the dominion of well governed independence. Kashmir just asks for AZAADI now.

Hope it would be tranquil; hope it will turn to be bliss now
It is Kashmir as such, how come I come up with a word hope with it
There are gruesome killings, petty politics and there are shattered hopes
It is Kashmir as such, how can I come up with a word development with it
Tears fill the hearts, fear resides deep in self and then there is an end of liberty
It is Kashmir as such, how can I come up with a word democracy with it
Mothers see the dead bodies of their sons, sisters see their brothers don’t return and wives are widowed now
This is Kashmir as such, how can I expect no more killings now

THE ODDS OF A KASHMIRI

Why is it funny to live in Kashmir. Every morning I wake up, I think of my life and how I am still lazy and still a winner in all ...
